A rematch between Liberal and Hays will take place at the state track meet in Wichita after both teams claimed regional victories Thursday.

Liberal dominated the Regional meet at Bishop Carroll Friday, winning the meet with 152 points. Host Carroll was second with 110 points.

Hays won its meet with 188 points. Salina South was second with 96.

Christian Torres qualified in the 200 meter dash, and Eli Altamarino qualified in the 400 meter dash.

Mershek Wiltshire qualified for state in the 800 meter run.

Daniel Frazier qualified with a gold medal in the mile and silver in the two mile.

Liberal continued to dominate the hurdles with Trenton Hammond taking gold in the 110 and 300 meter hurdles, and Ayodele Braimah taking silver in both events to qualify both for the state meet.

Liberal’s three relay teams all qualified for state.

Trenton Wilson qualified in the high jump.

Chase Eatmon qualified in the high jump, long jump and triple jump.

Javonta Lewis and Rex Heronemus also qualified in the triple jump.

Nolan Larkin qualified with a bronze in the javelin.

Liberal has won every track meet except the Western Athletic Conference meet where they finished second to Hays by 15 points, 113-98.

The two will joining the other state qualifiers in a quest to be the best in Class 5A beginning Friday.
