Obituary

Mountain View, Calif. – John Wayne Dulaney, 30, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at Stanford Medical Center in Stanford, Calif.

He was born Nov. 1, 1978, to John Harry and Shona Sue (Stansberry) Dulaney in Liberal.

He was a 1997 graduate of Turpin (Okla.) High School. He earned an associates degree in music in 1999 from South Plains College in Levelland, Texas.  He was a 2003 graduate of Oral Roberts University with a B.A. in liberal arts with an emphasis in philosophy. He was studying to complete his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto, Calif., and doing practicum work with middle school students at Ravenswood School District in East Palo Alto 

He worked with the Starlight Adolescent Center as a rehab therapist aide in San Jose, Calif. He had also worked for Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch near Amarillo, Texas, as a therapeutic specialist from August 2003 to January 2006.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Turpin where he was the youth minister from 2000 to 2001. 

Survivors include his father; his mother; his grandparents, Marceille Stansberry, Liberal, Richard and Sue Lepper, Liberal, and Harry John Dulaney, Pampa, Texas; his stepfather, Kim, Turpin; his stepmother, Jeri, Sealy, Texas; his brothers, Michael Dulaney and wife, Jennifer, Houston, and Ty Blakeley, Turpin; his half sisters, Amber Dulaney and Betty Quinn, Winnsboro, Texas; and his niece, Michalyn Dulaney, Houston.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John Wesley Stansberry, Fern Dulaney and JoAnn Lepper, his great-grandparents, Harry and Betty Dulaney, and his aunt, Nada Stoops.

o Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Liberal with the Rev. David Bagwell presiding.  

Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery in Liberal.

Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, with family present to receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to John Wayne Dulaney Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. Second, Liberal, KS 67901.
