The Southwestern Heights Lady Mustangs started both games of their doubleheader with Stanton County well, only to suffer losses because of big innings by the Lady Trojans, 12-4 and 13-3.
Heights started Game 1 with a 2-runs in the top of the first inning, and led 3-0 heading into the bottom of the third.
Stanton County got on the board with two runs, but the Lady Mustangs still led 3-2.
The Lady Trojans took over in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five runs to take their first lead of the game, 7-3. Stanton County scored two in each of the next two innings and allowed Heights just one in the seventh.
Rachel Amerin took the loss on the mound, pitching all six innings. Amerin allowed 12 hits and 12 runs, but allowed only two walks and struckout 12.
Heights committed four errors in the field.
Amerin was 1-3 with an RBI double at the plate. Ericka Nevarrez was 1-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
In Game 2, Heights started off with another 2-run inning in the top of the first. Stanton County answered back in the bottom of the second with 8 runs, and scored three in the fourth and two in the fifth to end the game after five, 13-3.
The Lady Mustangs struggled again in the field, committing four errors.
Lexi Starke struggled on the mound giving up 12 hits and 11 walks.
Nevarrez was 1-2 with a triple and a walk, and scored a run. Amerin was 1-3 with a double and a runs scored. Stark was 1-2 with a 2-RBI single.
Heights (2-6) will host Sublette Thursday.
