TURPIN, Okla—The Turpin Cardinals came from behind twice to win their final doubleheader of the regular season over the Tyrone Bobcats, 8-4 and 5-3.

Tyrone scored twice in the first inning of Game 2, and still lead 2-1 with two outs in the bottom of the third with the bases loaded with Cardinals. Tyrone pitcher Payson Slater fired a fastball down the middle for a strike but his catcher dropped the strike, and instead of stepping on home for the force out threw to first. The runner was safe and the tying run crossed home.

Four walks and a passed ball allowed the Cardinals to score three more in the bottom of the fourth to take a 5-2 lead. Tyrone managed to get one run across in the top of the fifth, but could not muster anymore as Kyler Musgrave struck out the final three Bobcat batters.

Payson Slater finished the game 1-1 with a homerun and two walks. Cole Wall was 2-2 with a walk and a run scored.

For Turpin it was Jordan Lujan going 1-2 with a walk and two runs scored. Willie Enriquez was 1-1 with a run scored.

In Game 1, Turpin scored five runs on four hits and four errors in the bottom of the third to overtake Tyrone on their way to an 8-4 win.

Jake Jimenez got the Cardinals rally going when he led off the rally when he hit a line drive deep in the left-center gap and turned it into an inside-the-park homerun.

Musgrave and Young followed up with singles, as did Enriquez. All three scored, as did Matthew Gross after a walk to put Turpin up 6-3 heading into the fourth.

Lujan singled and scored, and Jimenez scored after reaching on an error in the bottom of the fourth to put the Cardinals up 8-3 heading into the fifth.

The Bobcats looked ready to rally when Slater led off the inning with a triple, and scored when the next batter, Cole Wall, singled.

But Turpin retired the next three batters to end the game.

Lujan finished 1-2 with a walk, 2 runs scored and four stolen bases. Jimenez homered and scored two runs, and Young was 2-2 with a triple, a walk and two runs scored.

Turpin will not play until next Tuesday when they head to Laverne for the district playoffs. Tyrone will play one more regular season game against Sublette before heading to Shattuck for their district tournament.
