In Loving Memory
Joyce Anderson, 83, of Hooker, Oklahoma passed away March 26, 2013, at Dunaway Manor in Guymon, Oklahoma.
Joyce was born December 5, 1930 in Liberal, Kansas, the daughter Edgar Bonson and Cora Pearl (Sandy) Gift Venable. She graduated from Hooker High School with the Class of 1948. Later she attended Panhandle State University, graduating with a degree in elementary education. She worked at many jobs in her life beginning at the tender age of eight cleaning chickens for the Huddlestons. Other jobs where babysitting, cooking, cleaning, farming, selling furniture at Matt’s Furniture Store in Hooker, being a secretary at Tradewide Industries in Liberal, Kansas and finally being a 5th grade teacher at Hooker Elementary School. She loved her students, who knew her as Mrs. Lusk.
She belonged to Mother’s Club and the Carnnie Landess UMW Bible Circle. She especially enjoyed her telephone network of good friends. She was a member of the Hooker American Legion Women’s auxiliary, serving as past president.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Sandy Fast, and father, E.B. Venable, her sisters, Robbie Venable and Coetta Turner, her brother Merle (Sonny) Venable, great grandson, Aiden Lundgrin and nephew, Steve Venable.
She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Arnold and husband Tom of Hooker, Oklahoma; sons, Steven Lundgren of Aurora, Colorado and Paul Lundgrin and wife Esperanza of Grand Terrace, California.
Seven grandchildren include Greg and Jamie Arnold, Valerie and Scott Howell, Wade and Andrea Arnold, Jonathan Lundgrin, David and Rachel Lundgrin, Trevor Lundgrin and Kyler Lundgrin. Seven great grandchildren are Austin, Luke, and Grayson Arnold, Heath and Hadley Howell, Jackson and Wyatt Arnold. She is also survived by a sister in law, Janet Venable of Baldwin City, Kansas, niece, Susan Venable, nephews, Shane Venable, Scott Venable and Todd Turner.
o Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, April 1, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Hooker with Rev. Les Bussell officiating. Interment will be in the Hooker Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. in Hooker, Oklahoma.
