L&T staff report

The Lady Redskins swim team opened the season in a tri-invitational in Garden City, and even though they finished third, they were only seven points away from second.

According to coach Thais Baziquetto-Allen, Tessa Downs and Macy Hintergardt led the team at the meet.

Downs took third in the 200-yard Individual Medley and fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Hintergardt took fourth in the 50-yard Freestyle and fourth at the 100-yard Freestyle.

Liberal also scored by placing fourth in the 200-yard  Freestyle Relay with Hintergardt, Nancy Varella, Jaqueline Rivera and Downs.

Some Liberal swimmers were disqualified which led to the third-place finish.

The final scores for the meet were:

1. Garden City, 286

2. Dodge City, 134

3. Liberal, 129

The Lady Redskins will travel to Great Bend for a meet Monday.
