The Lady Mustangs battled Hugoton Thursday, and despite a solid effort Southwestern heights dropped both games,
Hugoton jumped out to a 4-0 lead in Game 1 before the Lady Mustangs were able to push a run across the plate in the fifth.
Hugoton stretched out to a 7-1 lead in the top of the sixth, but the Lady Mustangs responded with three runs of their own on the bottom half of the inning.
Hugoton added two more runs in the seventh for a 9-4 win. The Lady Mustangs were limited to three hits in the loss from Duran, Sanchez and Collins.
One bad inning cost the Lady Mustangs a win in Game 2.
Hugoton took a 2-0 lead in the first inning but broke the game open in the second by scoring eight to take a 10-0 lead.
The Lady Eagles expanded the advantage to 12-0 in the fourth, but the Lady Mustangs battled back by scoring six runs in the fifth.
Heights added a single run in the sixth, and neither team scored in the seventh, and the Lady Mustangs fell 12-7.
Heights outhit Hugoton 10-5 in the second game, and both teams committed five errors each.
