SATANTA – Irene Koehn, 87, died Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at Satanta Long Term Care Unit.
She was born July 16, 1922, to Henry X. and Minnie (Dirks) Smith in Montezuma.
She married Leroy Koehn Sept. 13, 1942, in Montezuma. He died March 9, 1973.
She then married Jack Hayes in March of 1983. He preceded her in death.
She was in the dry cleaning business in Satanta until 1961 and later owned and operated Superior Cleaners in Sublette for 24 and a half years.
She was a member of the Southern Baptist Church of Sublette and Pride of Life of Sublette.
She enjoyted crocheting, reading, flowers and gardening.
Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Smith and husband, Milton, Dodge City, Betty Anthony, Satanta, and Judy Dietz and husband, Rod, Wichita; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Mary Koehn, Dodge City; and other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers, Albert, Dewey, John, Linas, Fred, Dave and Archie Smith, three sisters, Lena Yost, Lizzie Koehn and Agnes Unruh; and one son-in-law, Garry Anthony.
o Funeral services were at 10 a.m. today at the Southern Baptist Church in Sublette with Pastor Shane Lester presiding.
Burial will be at the North Mennonite Cemetery in Montezuma.
