HUGOTON – Lela Kirkland, 92, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at Pioneer Manor in Hugoton.
She was born July 7, 1917, to Martin and Ollie (Black) Puckett in Okfuskee County, Okla.
She married Willard Vaughn Kirkland Jan. 12, 1935, in Wetumka, Okla. He died March 24, 2005.
She attended school in Okemah, Okla.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Hugoton Baptist Church.
She enjoyed doing ceramics, sewing and taking care of her grandchildren.
She is survived by one daughter, Peggy A. Bane and husband, Ralph, Hugoton; one son, Ronald L. Kirkland and wife, Kathy, Wakeeney; seven grandchildren, Donald D. Knier Jr., David D. Knier, Tammy Wolff, Steve Kirkland, Tracey (Stuckey) Gardner, Laura Dawn (Stuckey) Day and Jeremy Stuckey; 22 great-grandchildren, Justin Kemp, Allison Knier, Kayla Knier, Krysta Knier, Ashley Knier, Megan Knier, Drake Knier, Brock Leonard, Abigale Gardner, Kimberly Day, Dalton Day, Alex Wolf, Lora Wolf, Danielle Wolf, Sydney Kirkland, Addison Denise Kirkland, Payton Kemp, Tad Stuckey, Jesse Stuckey, Brittany Stuckey, Nichole Stuckey and Nikki Stuckey; and many great great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Wendell Ray Kirkland; one granddaughter, Denise (Knier) Leonard; two great-grandchildren, Emily Gardner and Michael Stuckey; four brothers, Dean, Dale, Ray and Marvin; and one sister, Pauline Jones.
o Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hugoton Baptist Church with Pastor Shane Bowyer presiding.
Burial will follow at the Hugoton Cemetery.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Hugoton.
