ELKHART – Jack W. Thompson, 62, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at the Morton County Hospital in Elkhart.
He was born March 3, 1950, to Russell Warren and Vera Helene (Walker) Thompson in Elkhart.
He married Linda S. Tregellas in April 1970 in Elkhart. She survives.
He graduated from Elkhart High School in 1968, attended Pittsburg State University and then served in the United States Army.
After an honorable discharge, he farmed with his dad. He also rebuilt combine engines for Allis Chalmers, opened Tri State Auto and was shop foreman for Morton County Road Department.
He enjoyed motorcycles and rode with the Patriot Guard. He also enjoyed hunting prairie dogs.
He is also survived by his son, David A. Thompson and wife, Connie, Topeka; daughter, Julie Hey and husband, Brad, Wichita; sister, Linda Kay Lundy and husband, Jack, Burlington, Ky.; sister-in-law, Leu Thompson, Lake Charles, La.; and three grandchildren, Alexa, Nova Rain and Stone.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Larry Ray Thompson.
o Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Morton County Civic Center in Elkhart.
Burial will follow at the Elkhart Cemetery, with graveside military rites conducted by Elkhart VFW Post No. 3162.
