MEADE – Alma Jane Salyer, 82, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Meade District Hospital.
She was born July 20, 1930, to Lawrence and Elvira (Cooper) Hereford in Ulrich, Mo.
She married Lester H. “Les” Salyer June 8, 1963, in Clinton, Mo. He survives.
She was a graduate of Central Missouri State, receiving her masters degree in education.
She was a schoolteacher for 35 years, having spent 23 of those years teaching at Fort Osage, Mo., retiring in 1986.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Meade, and was an avid reader of history, in particular, Civil War history.
She is also survived by one son, Steven Salyer, Meade; and one grandson, Steven Tyler Salyer, Meade.
o Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, Meade, with the Rev. Susan Greene presiding.
Burial will be at the Graceland Cemetery, Meade.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
