The Turpin Lady Cardinals fell behind 22-2 could never recover. Sharon-Mutual ran away with the win, 73-34.
“We self destructed,” Lady Cardinals coach Jeff Funk said. “They are a good ball club, but in many ways, we did this to ourselves.”
One critical area that proved costly for Turpin was their game inside the paint. The Lady Cardinals missed 19 shots in the paint in the first half.
Turpin did recover from their first quarter debacle to play a competitive second quarter with Sharon-Mutual outscoring Turpin by just one.
“We really did play a good second quarter, maybe the best quarter we’ve played all season,” Funk said.
Still, that made the score 39-18 at the half.
Turpin was outscored 34-16 in the second half
Raegan Alvarez led the Lady Cards with 15 points, and Alyssa Kinser added 10.
Turpin (1-11) will take on Waynoka in the seventh place game.
