FOWLER – Dorothy M. Seyfert, 89, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at the Fowler Residential Care Center, Fowler.
She was born April 24, 1923, to Dick and Ida (Zellmer) Wuerdeman in Denver.
She married Elmer Seyfert Aug. 28, 1949, in Meade. He died March 25, 1998.
She graduated from Meade High School in 1941, and later received her teaching certificate from Dodge City Community College.
She taught in a one room school house south of Meade. She also farmed with her husband south of Fowler.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.
She is survived by a son, Warren Seyfert and wife, Peggy; a daughter, Audrey Seyfert; a granddaughter, Renee Herbert, and husband, Keith; two grandsons, Ryan and Michael Seyfert; a sister-in-law, Loretta Wuerdeman; five nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Raymond and Arnold Wuerdeman; and a sister, Wuerdeman.
o Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at St. John Lutheran Church, Meade, with the Rev. Lynn E. Spencer presiding.
Burial followed at the Fowler Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to St. John Lutheran Church, Fowler Residential Care Center, or the Hospice of the Prairie in care of the funeral home.
