HUGOTON – Gene Campbell, 82, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at Satanta District Hospital.
He was born Oct. 30, 1930, to Burgis and Ruby (Jennings) Campbell in Stevens County.
He married Ila Harper in 1950 in Clayton, N.M. She survives.
He served nine years in the United States Army Reserves. He was an oil and gas inspector and independent contractor. He also farmed.
He was a member of the Bethel Friends Church, taught Sunday school classes, was the Sunday school superintendent and enjoyed singing at church.
Other survivors include sons, Jerry Campbell and wife, Janet, Emporia, and Kris Campbell and wife, Marreta, Hugoton; daughter, Dana Seidle and husband, John, Centennial, Colo.; brother, Terry Campbell and wife, Carol, Hugoton; sister, Barbara Walters, Amarillo, Texas; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Yvonne Carlise.
o Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hugoton Cemetery.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. at the Bethel Friends Church in Hugoton with Pastor Eric Mason and Dave Mason presiding.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Hugoton.
