Obituary

Myrtle Faye Atkins, 90, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at her home.

She was born May 8, 1922, to W.J. and Maude Jones Stell in Hooker, Okla.

She married James Clair Atkins June 21, 1945, in Albuquerque, N.M. He died Feb. 5, 1964.

She attended school in Hooker and graduated from Hooker High School with the Class of 1939. After graduation, she attended Dodge City Business College.

She worked at a military facility, later to be known as Chicago O’Hare International Airport.  She worked at the Air Force Base in Liberal.

After her husband’s death, she began to work at various jobs and later worked as a medical transcriptionist for Southwest Medical Center in the X-ray department. She retired in 1987.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Hooker and served as the church secretary for 10 years.  She was a member of the Women’s Business Professional Club in Hooker.

Survivors include three sons, Dennis James Atkins and wife, Rhonda, Hooker, Michael Brent Atkins, Garden City, and Pat Eugene Atkins, Hooker; three daughters, Billie Lea Beall and  husband, Jim, Albuquerque, Linda Lucille Kerr, Hooker, and Tina Claire Moravec and husband, Ron, Waukomis, Okla.; one sister, Janet Cox and husband, James, Enid, Okla.; eight grandchildren, Todd Kerr, Brian Beall, Eric Hofferber, Chad Beall, Nicholas Hofferber, Greg Atkins, Will Atkins and Katie Atkins; and four great-grandchildren, Jace Kerr, Jerod Kerr, Rylyn Hofferber and Jhett Hofferber.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bill Stell and Edward Stell; two sisters, Thelma Jean Stell and Ruth Sheldon; and twin great-granddaughters, Haley and Josie Hofferber.

o Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church in Hooker, with the Rev. Roy Berkley and Bro. Eddy Scoggins presiding.

Burial will be at the Hooker Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Hooker Masonic Lodge or the Guymon Home Health Care & Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice and may be left at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945.
