MEADE – John Michael O’Crotty, 24, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at Meade District Hospital.

He was born Aug. 29, 1988,  to Kevin and Martha (Rowan) O’Crotty at the Roseville (Calif.) Community Hospital.

He married Tamara Ayers Nov. 30, 2007, in Dodge City. She survives.

He attended Dodge City High School and later attended Dodge City Community College.

He then joined the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. He was a technician for Terminix Pest Control.

He was a member of the Emmanuel Mennonite Church and the Men’s Encounter Group.

He enjoyed playing video games, paintball, hunting and spending time with his family and friends.

He is also survived by his great-grandmother, Helen Shuck, Citrus Heights, Calif.; his grandmother, Frances Johns, Citrus Heights; his father of California; his mother, Port Orchard, Wash.; their children, Aiden Cree, Alissa Lynn and Adam Michael O’Crotty, all of Meade; and his sisters, Erin, Rebekah, and Mary Cates, Port Orchard.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Carolyn O’Crotty, and two grandfathers, Michael O’Crotty and Calvin Rowan.

o Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church, Meade, with Pastor Ken Harder presiding.

Cremation will follow the service.

Friends may call from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the O’Crotty Family Fund in care of the funeral home.
