In Loving Memory
Heaven received another angel wearing a barbed wire halo on Tuesday, March 20, 2012. Dan C. “Gram-pa” Abrams of Frost was born April 16, 1922, in Iuka, KS, to Harry and Mary Frances (Williams) Abrams.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2012, at Wade Funeral Chapel in Hubbard with Pastor Lou Gil officiating. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in Killeen at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
Dan was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He loved to tell stories and could always be found surrounded by listeners enthralled by tales of his travels. Upon retirement from years of working in the oil patch and equipment auctioneering, Dan could be found working outside with his cattle or planting a garden. He was a hard worker, never slowing down for anything. He was a thoughtful and considerate man, taking care of everyone and anyone that needed his help.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, a brother-in-law and a sister-in-law.
Dan is survived by his brother Harry Abrams and his wife Joyce of Cave Junction, OR; brother Mike Abrams of Apple Valley, CA; sister Barbara Matson of Ft Worth; brother Fred Abrams and his wife Dee of Erie, CO; son Danny Abrams and his wife Sharron of Spring, TX; daughter Connie Wells and her husband Jerry of Frost; granddaughter Candus Hinderer and her husband Jeff of Pearland, TX; granddaughter Misti Gil and her husband Lou of Rockwall, TX; granddaughter Stephanie Towns and her husband Patrick of Bryan, TX; grandson Joshua Wells of Edgewood, TX; six great-grandsons, Nicholas Hinderer, Mitchell Hinderer, Tyler Towns, Zacharee Svacina-Wells, Cooper Gil, and Aaron Towns and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family who loved him dearly.
o Pallbearers will be Jerry Wells, Jeff Hinderer, Patrick Towns, Joshua Wells, Jeff Lewis and Jeff Sabo.
Honorary pallbearers will be all six of his cherished great-grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in the name of Dan C. Abrams to either Memorials for Veterans Administration or Marine Moms Online, P.O. Box 423, Savoy, IL 61874.
